The Salzburg Center for Smart Materials, a joint project of the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, is pleased to announce the first international Conference for Smart Materials at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences in Kuchl, Austria. The focus of this conference is to bring together an international and diverse research community with leading academic scientists and researchers of different backgrounds to share their recent research and affiliation on smart materials. The conference therefore not just focuses on the material science and engineering side, but also on smart manufacturing and characterization methods. A main focus will also be on smart materials contributing to a bio-economy (biogenic resources, sustainability, environmental applications).

The conference will have different tracks according to the contributions handed in through the call of abstract. The exact tracks are to be decided but will be constituted around the following topics of Smart Materials:

Material Science and Engineering
  • (Bio)-polymers
  • Lightweight and composite materials
  • Nano technology & materials
Smart Manufacturing & Material Design
  • (Personal) digital fabrication
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Do-it-Yourself materials
Smart Material Characterization
  • Measuring methods
  • Methodology of research and analysis
Smart Materials in a Bio-Economy
  • For energy and environmental applications
  • Coming from renewable ressources

The Call for Abstracts remains open until the 1st of March 2021. For more information regarding the call visit the subpage Call for Abstracts and/or download the flyer.

Free conference participation: Thanks to the EFRE-program and the State of Salzburg, the registration costs to the conference are covered.

MDPI – materials cooperation: Selected full papers of the conference will get the chance to be published within a special issue of the MDPI Materials journal and can win a best paper award (300CHF). Materials (ISSN 1996-1944, IF 2019: 3.057) is an Open Access journal of materials science, indexed by SCIE, EI, Scopus, PubMed and gets high visibility, and the media publication time is 33 days.
